Everton v Fulham FA Cup 4th Round Pre-Match Preview by Paddy Howlin

Everton will play their first FA Cup tie at Goodison Park on a Friday in 107 years, when they face Fulham at 8pm (GMT). On that occasion they managed to beat Southampton 4-0 in an FA Cup Quarter Final in March 1905, and Everton will be hoping that the class of 2012 can go on a similar cup run to raise the spirits of the Goodison faithful after yet another disappointing league performance in front of their fans last Saturday against Blackburn. Everton 1-1 Blackburn Rovers: The Battle to Debase Expectations

Everton was forced to settle for another match at home without three points as David Goodwillie quite literally clawed back a goal for Blackburn in the 71st minute to cancel Tim Cahill’s first half strike.

The match against Blackburn on Saturday was for far more than just three points. Aston Villa 1-1 Everton: Honors Even at Villa Park

Victor Anichebe came on to score an equalizer which canceled out Darren Bent’s opening goal and preserved a point for Everton on their yearly excursion to Villa Park. The first half saw Villa have slightly more of the match, with Darren Bent and Stiliyan Petrov coming closest. Many of their attacking moves, though, were undercut by a poor attacking performance from Alan Hutton.

Everton hit back when new boy Darron Gibson lofted a ball over the top of the Villa defense to Tim Cahill, who failed to strike his attempted volley on target. Louis Saha was denied by an excellent reflex save from Villa stopper Shay Given in the 17th minute. Given, who was outstanding on the day, also was forced to parry a header from former RS Stephen Warnock, who inexplicably headed Royston Drenthe’s cross down into the bottom corner of the Villa goal.
